News Roundup: UA Yuma, AWC Expand STEM Degrees in South Yuma County

The University of Arizona Yuma and Arizona Western College recently broke ground to expand STEM-related degrees and learning spaces for students in South Yuma County.

After earning an Informatics degree from AWC, students will have the option of earning one of four bachelor’s degrees from the UA, including System Administration, Software Development, Cyber Operations, and Digital Design.

For local students, it means they will be able to earn a STEM degree in a high demand field completely in South Yuma County. In addition, students will also gain hands-on, real-world experiences, creating a better educated workforce in Arizona.

This program was made possible by a $6M grant awarded to UA Yuma and AWC back in October 2016. As a Hispanic-Serving Institution, UA Yuma in partnership with AWC aims to better serve geographically isolated populations of Hispanic and low-income students.
