Wildcat Country expanded today as members of the University of Arizona community gathered to celebrate the grand opening of the new UA Yuma distance facility.

The celebration featured tours, a student showcase and a ribbon-cutting ceremony with President Robert C. Robbins, along with other campus leaders.

“This is a tremendous milestone, not just for UA Yuma but the entire university,” said Joel Hauff, Associate Vice President for Student Affairs and Enrollment Management and Executive Director for Online and Distance Education Administration. “Thinking about the core of our land-grant mission and what it means to serve the state of Arizona, this facility will help us increase access to higher education by delivering a high-quality experience for students beyond our main campus.”

UA Yuma is a branch campus serving La Paz, Imperial and Yuma counties that connects students in Southern Arizona with one of the nation’s top-ranked research universities. It also offers cutting-edge undergraduate and graduate degree programs that are tailored to address workforce needs within the region, such as agriculture technology and management.
